The 29-year-old Kohli has 6147 runs in 71 Tests with 23 centuries and 9779 runs in 211 ODIs, including 35 tons.

The award was bestowed upon him by President Pranab Mukherjee. Kohli has had a phenomenal year in cricket where he's scored with the bat and to top it all off, led the side to unprecedented success. He led the Indian team to the No. 1 Test ranking after taking over the reins from Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

In 2013, he was given the Arjuna Award in recognition of his achievements in international cricket. SportsPro, a UK magazine, rated Kohli as the second most marketable athlete in the world in 2014. He is also a co-owner of the ISL team FC Goa and the IPTL franchise UAE Royals.

Virat Kohli wins Sir Garfield Sobers Award for ICC Male Cricketer of Decade. Virat Kohli, who had scored 20,396 runs in all international cricket during the time period, which is more than anyone else, was also part of team India that won the ICC CWC 2011 and ICC Champions Trophy 2013.
